Summary:
I responded to a call from the Sydney Harbour Bridge Control Room, who reported that two people had jumped off a boat into the water. The two people were identified as Bea and Ben, the main characters of the film “Anyone But You”, which was being screened at the nearby Event Cinemas. They had apparently fallen off the boat after the titanic scene.
Observations:
– I arrived at the scene with a rescue helicopter and a paramedic team. I spotted the two people on a boje, holding hands and waving at me. They seemed to be uninjured and in good spirits, despite the height and the cold of the water.
– I approached them with the rescue helicopters and threw them a lifebuoy. They grabbed it and I pulled them on board. They thanked me and told me that they were fine. They said that they had just watched the film “Anyone But You”
– I asked them if they were aware of the risks and the consequences of their actions. They said that they were, but that they did not care. They said that they wanted to do something spontaneous and adventurous, and that they felt alive and happy. They said that they loved each other and that they wanted to celebrate their relationship.
– I checked their vital signs and found them to be normal. I asked them if they had any medical conditions or allergies. They said that they did not. I asked them if they had consumed any alcohol or drugs. They said that they had not.
– I informed them that they had committed an offence under the Road Transport Act 2013, Section 118, which states that a person must not interfere with the safe operation of a road or bridge. I told them that they could face a fine of up to $2,200 or imprisonment for up to 12 months, or both. I also told them that they could be liable for any damages or injuries caused by their actions.
– They said that they understood and that they were sorry. They said that they did not mean to cause any trouble or harm. They said that they just wanted to express their love and have some fun. They asked me if I could let them go with a warning. They said that they would never do it again.
Recommendations:
– The film “Anyone But You” was a decent rom-com that had some positive aspects, but also some negative ones. It was a good, family friendly entertainment that could be enjoyed by people of all ages. The main actor, Glen Powell, was great in his role as Ben, a charming and witty day trader. He had good chemistry with his male side character, Pedro, who was played by GaTa. They had funny dialogues, quips, and banter throughout the film. The locations and pictures were great, as the film showcased the beauty of Sydney and its harbour.
– The film had some flaws that could have been improved. The main actress, Sydney Sweeney, was annoying in her role as Bea, a cynical and insecure wanna be lawyer. She was too whiny, immature, and unlikable for most of the film, and her character arc was not convincing. She did not have much chemistry with Powell, and their romance felt forced. The story was predictable and clichéd, as it followed the typical formula of a rom-com. The film did not have much depth or originality. The ending was too long and dragged out, as it took too much time to resolve the conflicts and wrap up the loose ends.
– The film was also irresponsible and dangerous, as it encouraged people to jump off the bridge as a romantic gesture. This was a reckless and illegal act that could have resulted in serious injury or death, not only for the jumpers, but also for other road users and emergency services. The film should have included a disclaimer or a warning that jumping off the bridge was not a good idea and that it was a criminal offence.
Conclusion:
The film “Anyone But You” was a mediocre rom-com that had some positive aspects, but also some negative ones. It was not a bad film, but it was not a great one either. Certainly entertaining. It was also a bad influence, as it inspired two people to jump off the bridge and put themselves and others in danger. They were lucky that they were not hurt and that I was able to rescue them. They were also lucky that I decided to let them go with a warning, as I felt sorry for them and their love story. However, I advised them to find a safer and more legal way to express their love and have some fun in the future.
