The movie follows a filmmaker as she takes on her newest project: “arranged marriages”. She follows her best friend and neighbour as he goes through to find love the traditional, Pakistani way. During the adventure, she falls into the differences of cultures, challenges her own view on love and her neighbour.
It’s a romantic comedy that takes on the complex subject of arranged marriages in a humorous way. The movie showcases the Indian culture and traditions beautifully, and the jokes are well-placed and suited to the topic. The dialogues are fun and well-paced, and the main actress does a great job of adapting fairy tales to her personal life.
Lily James and Emma Thompson both deliver great performances and are charming throughout the movie. The camera work is also well thought-out, with a good mix of wide and close-up shots to capture the romance and humor of the story. The Indiana Jones reference was a nice touch, although the reference to frozen ape brains was a bit unrealistic.
The supporting cast did their job well and added to the overall entertainment value of the movie. However, the locations were not particularly special and didn’t add much to the overall feel of the movie.
The ending of the movie was predictable right from the beginning, with the male lead falling in love with the neighbor’s girl instead of the girl he was supposed to marry. The ending was too perfect, with the treehouse scene being an obvious and clichรฉd way to wrap up the story. The movie could have used a bit more drama to make it more engaging.
It is worth mentioning that one of the reviewers had an interesting experience while watching the movie. While attempting to capture some drone footage for another project, he almost crashed his drone in front of the client. Though this incident is unrelated to the movie, it highlights the potential risks and challenges involved in using technology for creative projects.
Overall, “Love Interrupted” is an enjoyable and lighthearted movie that provides a glimpse into the world of arranged marriages in India. While it may not be a groundbreaking or particularly memorable film, it is a pleasant and fun watch for anyone looking for some romantic comedy.
